As a local mom and an experienced doula I have had the opportunity to assist in one the most special time in a family’s journey. With each birth I am blessed to witness I am pulled deeper into the doula profession. I believe in educating and giving unbiased support to women in anyway they choose to give birth. Having a positive birth experience is what I strive to help my clients achieve by making sure women have the emotional and physical support they deserve. I provide a relaxing and positive atmosphere with the occasional comic relief. I am so excited for what the future of being a birth doula has in store for me.

My training through DONA International and personal life experience has equipped me to be calm under pressure, and to have an even greater love of each moment.  As a birth doula, my goal is to help you navigate your experience and to help you remember that you are strong, and that you can make it through your birth.  My journey into doula work began over 17 years ago with the birth of my youngest brother. Being present at that moment sparked a love and a passion for supporting women throughout pregnancy, labor, birth and motherhood. I have been an active doula in the Asheville area since 2014. I bring to the table joy, confidence and peace. I strive with each family to find what is soothing to them, and help to make that happen. Pregnancy, labor and birth are beautiful. None is exactly like the other. I love the challenge of supporting women through their own special journey.

Tips for choosing a doula:

  1. Think about what you are looking for in your doula – Experience with families like yours? Experience with certain medical conditions? A certain philosophy around birth or childrearing?
  2. Read through all the DAMA member bios and jot down the names of those who seem to fit what you are looking for in a doula.
  3. Pay special attention to the Hospital/Service Key to make sure those doulas provide the service you seek or provide support where you will give birth.
  4. Contact several doulas via email or phone to get general information about their availability around your due date and to learn about their specific services and fees.
  5. Interview two or three doulas face-to-face with your partner to decide which one is most compatible with your family and your birth or postpartum needs. For a guide to interviewing a doula, please click here.

If you need help in finding a doula for your due date, with special experience, or who serves a particular hospital, please don’t hesitate to contact DAMA at 337-0007 or info@wncdoulas.com.
