An association of professional doulas, DAMA welcomes new members who meet specific qualifications and demonstrate a commitment to providing doula services in keeping with the mission of the organization. DAMA considers doulas for membership who have been trained or certified through a nationally recognized certification organization. We feel that the comprehensive training, scope of practice, code of ethics and requirements of continuing education that the nationally recognized certification organizations provide result in highly skilled, professional doulas.
Benefits of being an Active Member of DAMA
Active Members Are Doulas who have completed or are willing to complete a majority of the following in DAMA: attend 6 membership meetings and 6 committee meetings or activities, serve at least 1 “pro-bono” and/or “reduced fee” client per year, support at least 1 new doula per year, volunteer as the monthly DAMA communication manager at least one month during the year and turn in a completed data collection form for each birth attended.

Benefits of being a Supportive Member or a Friend of DAMA
Supportive Member Are Doulas who may not be able to fulfill the responsibilities of being an active member of the association but are still supportive of the association and/or active as a doula by attending clients. Supportive members are included on the website. They are asked to turn in a completed data collection form for each birth attended and support DAMA by attending meetings or functions when possible.
